PM9S-342-SD3

PM9S-342-SD3 Suggested applications
  • Temperature sensors for fuser roller surface in copy machines or laser printers
  • Other contact-type temperature sensor applications

    Advantages
  • Temperature sensing section can be used 1mm away from the roller surface
  • Non-contact type will not scratch roller, insuring long life
  • Used for low-speed color printers

    Shape and dimensions:
    PM9S-342-SD3

    Specifications:
    ResistanceR = 13.80kΩ ±5% at 150℃
    B constantB = 4875K ±3% (calculated from resistance at 100℃ and 200℃)
Thermal time constantτ= less than 4.0 seconds (see Note 1)
Thermal dissipation constantσ= 0.35 to 0.55mW/℃ (in still air)
Operating temperature range-20℃ to +180℃ (standby temperature; see Note 2)
Storage conditionsAt relative humidity of 0 to 85% (there must be no dew or condensate), temperature from -20℃ to 60℃
    Note1:Measuring condition:
When thermistor has reached 63.2% of designated temperature, with thermistor sensing section mounted 1mm away from the roller; roller at 180℃. Thermistor is to be mounted horizontally, in normal atmosphere. This is subject to environmental conditions; data provided is Shibaura standards, using specified test machines

    Note 2: Operation condition:
Sensing section of thermistor is mounted 1.0mm away from the φ25mm roller in room-temperature environment. Data is from temperature around the thermistor in this position

Instructions for handling, installation and use of thermistors
Please carefully follow these instructions to avoid damage and/or faulty operation of the thermistors:
1.Carry out reliability tests after sensor is installed; make sure it is performing properly before beginning operations.
2.When the thermistor is used as a sensor for the control of a device, be sure to incorporate appropriate safety measures to prevent accidents, such as a separate safety circuit or back-up sensor.
3.The sensor is designed to be mounted close to a fuser roller in normal air; it must not be used in water or in the presence of corrosive gases.
4.Please consult with Shibaura if the sensor is to be used in applications other than with fuser rollers.
5.Please consult with Shibaura if the sensor is to be modified in any way.
6.Carefully handle the thermistor so that the sensor is not scratched or discolored.
7.Use only within specified operating temperatures.
8.Do not use where condensation can form.
9.Do not place a load on the section covered by tape before installation; this may break frame or remove tape.
10.Do not touch tape surface; this may remove tape, cause misalignment of thermistor or dirt to adhere to the thermistor.
11.Thermal dissipation constant is 0.35 to 0.55mW/℃; if this level is applied an error of approximately 1℃ will appear because of the self-heating effect of the thermistor. If a higher level of electric power is applied overrun can occur, a dangerous situation which must be avoided.
12.No more than 0.6Nm (6kgfcm) torque should be applied to the screw used to install the holder; higher torque may deform or crack the holder. The screw size is M3; the washer used must be flat with no barrel ring.
13.Inspect leads to make sure there is no rust or dirt present, which can cause poor connections.
14.When soldering the lead wires, careful ensure that solder or the hot soldering iron do not come in contact with the sensor section.
15.To avoid deterioration or damage during storage, maintain the specified heat and humidity conditions. Avoid sudden temperature changes, direct sunlight, corrosive gases, dust and dirt or excessive loads; always store as packed.
