Instructions for handling, installation and use of thermistors
Please carefully follow these instructions to avoid damage and/or faulty operation of the thermistors:
| 1. | Carry out reliability tests after sensor is installed; make sure it is performing properly before beginning operations. |
| 2. | When the thermistor is used as a sensor for the control of a device, be sure to incorporate appropriate safety measures to prevent accidents, such as a separate safety circuit or back-up sensor. |
| 3. | The sensor is designed to be used with a fuser roller in normal air; it must not be used in water or in the presence of corrosive gases. |
| 4. | Please consult with Shibaura if the sensor is to be used in applications other than with fuser rollers. |
| 5. | Please consult with Shibaura if the sensor is to be modified in any way. |
| 6. | Carefully handle the thermistor so that the sensor is not scratched or discolored. |
| 7. | Use only within specified operating temperatures. |
| 8. | Do not use where condensation can form. |
| 9. | Do not apply loads of greater than 100g on the sensor section before installation on the roller; this may cause the leaf spring to bend excessively and break the dumet wires. |
| 10. | Do not bend the leaf spring more than 2mm, which can cause deformation. |
| 11. | Thermal dissipation constant is 0.6 to 1.0mW/℃; if this level is applied an error of approximately 1℃ will appear because of the self-heating effect of the thermistor. If a higher level of electric power is applied overrun can occur, a dangerous situation which must be avoided. |
| 12. | No more than 0.6Nm (6kgfcm) torque should be applied to the screw used to install the holder; higher torque may deform or crack the holder. The screw size is M3; the washer used must be flat with no barrel ring. |
| 13. | Inspect leads to make sure there is no rust or dirt present, which can cause poor connections. |
| 14. | When soldering the lead wires, careful ensure that solder or the hot soldering iron do not come in contact with the sensor section. |
| 15. | To avoid deterioration or damage during storage, maintain the specified heat and humidity conditions. Avoid sudden temperature changes, direct sunlight, corrosive gases, dust and dirt or excessive loads; always store as packed. |
