Reliability testing: other rating
Tests are pursuant to JIS C 2570
Measurements are conducted after placing the product in room temperature and normal humidity for one hour after testing.
Shibaura Electronics Co., Ltd. is free from quality assurance responsibility if the following operating conditions are not observed.
| 1. Mechanical strength tests |
| Lead tensile strength (thermistor element side) | Ring terminal is fixed; 20N of tensile force is gradually applied to lead wires (two wires together), then held for 10 seconds. |
| Drop test | Drop from height of 75cm onto 15 x 15cm oak board of 3cm or greater thickness.
|
| 2. Environmental resistance tests |
| Cold resistance | 1,000 hours at -20℃ ±3℃ |
| Heat resistance | 1,000 hours at 180℃ ±3℃ |
Test criteria:
In 1. Mechanical strength tests, there must be no open circuits, short circuits or deformation
In 2. Environmental tests, the change of resistance and B constants ratios must be ≤ 3%; insulation resistance and dielectric strength must meet all specified values |

Instructions for handling, installation and use of thermistors
Please carefully follow these instructions to avoid damage to and/or faulty operation of thermistors:
| 1. | Never exceed maximum rated power. |
| 2. | When the thermistor is used as a sensor for the control of a device, be sure to incorporate appropriate safety measures to prevent accidents, such as a separate safety circuit or back-up sensor. |
| 3. | . Ensure that the thermistor is not placed into the mouth or eyes; keep away from children and pets. |
| 4. | Use of thermistors in the following conditions may degrade thermistor function or lifespan; the customer must make their own checks of performance and reliability:
Corrosive gases, such as C12, NH3, SOx, NOx
Environment with high electric conductivity, such as electrolytes, water, saltwater, etc.
Presence of acids, alkalis or organic solvents
Dusty or dirty environments
When thermistors are resin sealed or resin coated
|
| 5. | When disposing of thermistors, treat them as industrial waste and observe all applicable laws and regulations. |
| 6. | Proper seating of the thermistor in the device in which it is to be used must be carefully observed by the customer. |
